This is a proceedings report for the Executive Education course on “Driving Competitiveness through Innovation” held in partnership with Microsoft from 19 to 20 April, 2011. The Dubai School of Government (DSG), in partnership with Microsoft, conducted an Executive Education course on “Driving Competitiveness through Innovation” on April 19-20, 2011. Participants included international experts and academics, as well as high-level officials from the public and private sector in the UAE. The executive program examined how to maximize the potential of ICTs within the public sector in order to spur efficiency, innovation and economic growth. The program featured powerful case studies, a robust framework of analysis, and insider tips about how to optimize government’s potential. Going beyond the big picture of innovation to practical applications, the program examined how technology can be used best, and what other factors play a role in making innovation happen. Participants learned about the central role information plays in fueling innovation, and highlighted lessons learned from the successes and failures of others, with an emphasis on both emerging challenges and future opportunities
