Project Encounter

Project Encounter is a non-profit venture based in the UAE and hosted by the Dubai School of Government, that promotes constructive engagement between the Middle East and the West, and facilitates on-the-ground exchange. The initiative and partnership with the School was launched on February 1, 2011.

The Project has four core activities:

1. The Gulf Exchange: Organizing ‘visit’ programs of young influence-makers and future leaders for 10 days to the UAE and the Gulf, with an integrated itinerary to deepen understanding of political, economic, and social dimensions of the Middle East.
2. Inbound Delegations: Assisting existing ‘student’ delegations to the region from graduate and undergraduate Western institutions to expand their itinerary.
3. UAE+1: Adding programming to existing events to discuss engagement across different themes (i.e. Art Dubai, Film Festivals, Cityscape).
4. Encounter 2012: Hosting an international gathering involving global stakeholders and institutions playing a role in Muslim world-West engagement.

The Project Encounter Web site will be launched shortly.
