Dr. Dale D. Murphy is Senior Research Fellow at the Dubai School of Government, where he directs the School’s activities and programs related to entrepreneurship. Before joining the DSG faculty, he was Director of Entrepreneurial Programs and Research Professor at Georgetown University, where he earlier taught and conducted research for 10 years in the Schools of Foreign Service and Business.
Dr. Murphy received his Ph.D. in International Relations from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a minor in International Business through the Sloan School of Management at MIT and the Harvard Business School. His research, writing and teaching spans the study of entrepreneurship, leadership, creativity, corporate social responsibility, ethics, globalization, international political economy and international relations. He is the author of The Structure of Regulatory Competition: Corporations and Public Policies in a Global Economy (Oxford University Press 2004, 2007) and many articles.
He was an Assistant Vice President of Citicorp, and has been involved in a number of startup ventures, most recently including an online news service. Murphy has been a consultant to the World Bank, USAID, private firms, and several non-profit organizations. He serves on the board of Global Integrity, founded by a former student. Murphy's mission at DSG is to help research, teach, and promote the responsible practice of entrepreneurship and angel investing throughout the Middle East.
