Ethan Chorin is a specialist in applied development in the Middle East and Africa. From 2008-2011, he was head of Corporate Social Responsibility at the port operator DP World, and led the company's participation in ROADS II, a public-private partnership to develop and implement a new model of modular, 'wired' clinics and training centers along transport corridors in West and East Africa; previously, he was a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, posted to Libya, Washington, D.C. and the UAE. Chorin holds a PhD from U.C. Berkeley in Agriculture and Resource Economics, an MIPS from Stanford, and a B.A. in Near Eastern Languages and Literatures from Yale. A former Fulbright and Fulbright-Hays Fellow, he is author of Translating Libya (Saqi Press, 2008), and is writing a book on the Libyan Uprising, to be published in early 2012. His translations, Op-Eds and dispatches have appeared in a number of international publications, including Foreignpolicy.com, the Financial Times, Jane's Islamic Affairs Analyst, and Words Without Borders.
